Annabel Deegan is a Coach and a Communications & Media Consultant. 

As a Coach, she helps clients with their personal and professional development covering many areas including career advancement, promotions, redundancies, conflict, health, fitness and relationships. Her speciality is working with journalists and newsroom professionals.

As a Communications & Media Consultant, Annabel works with non-profits and organisations with their media outreach, exposure and storytelling skills. Annabel is an accomplished writer of op-eds, press releases and thought leadership articles. 

Annabel worked in TV and digital journalism for 18 years and most recently was the Executive Editor for CNN’s Chief International Anchor Christiane Amanpour. For six years, she led the Amanpour team, editorially and operationally overseeing an award-winning brand of journalism across TV, digital and social media platforms. High-profile interviews during her tenure included Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Tim Cook, Volodymyr Zelensky, Cher, David Attenborough and Serena Williams. During her time at CNN, Annabel won three News & Documentary Emmy Awards.

Annabel is a character-driven leader with an extensive international network. In 2023, she was selected to represent the UK as a McCain Institute Global Leader. Passionate about the power of storytelling and driven by curiosity, Annabel helps global change-makers navigate a complex world and provides thought-provoking counsel to individuals and teams who are excited about the positive impact they can have on the world. 

Annabel is a part-time journalism Visiting Lecturer at City University in London.

Annabel writes about journalism, democracy and media freedom. She appeared on the BAFTA podcast series “Countdown to the BAFTAs” commentating on news and current affairs. 

Annabel is a Governor of Knightsfield School in Hertfordshire, where she lives with her husband Matt Deegan, a radio and audio consultant.
