Annabel Deegan is a senior communications and media consultant specialising in writing, media coaching, brand identity and providing strategic advice.
Annabel worked in TV and digital journalism for 18 years and most recently was the Executive Editor for CNN’s Chief International Anchor Christiane Amanpour. For six years she led the “Amanpour” team, editorially and operationally overseeing an award-winning brand of journalism across TV, digital and social media platforms.
High-profile interviews during her tenure included Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Tim Cook, Volodymyr Zelensky, Cher, David Attenborough and Serena Williams. During her time at CNN Annabel won three Emmys and a Royal Television Society Award.
Annabel joined CNN as a Writer in 2008, swiftly climbing the news programming career ladder. She began her career as a Broadcast Journalist at ITN, writing and reporting for various digital clients.
As a 2023 McCain Global Leader with The McCain Institute, Annabel is a character-driven leader with an extensive international network. Passionate about the power of storytelling and driven by curiosity, Annabel helps global changemakers navigate a complex world and provides thought-provoking counsel to individuals and teams who are excited about the positive impact they can have on society.
Annabel writes about journalism, democracy and media freedom. She appeared on this year’s BAFTA podcast series “Countdown to the BAFTAs” commentating on news and current affairs.
Annabel is a Governor of a secondary school in Hertfordshire, where she lives with her husband Matt Deegan, a radio and audio expert.
